NOMINATION GUIDELINES
To assist candidates, the Board has developed the following guidelines:
Qualifications Criteria:
 
Executive Officer: President Elect, President, Past President
         Must be a SSWAA member for at least 36 months prior to nomination.
         Must have at least 5 years of experience working in the field of School
           Social Work.
         Must have demonstrated leadership experience with a School Social Work
           organization at the State, Regional, and/or National level.
 
Executive Officer: Secretary
         Must have word processing experience
         Must be a SSWAA member for at least the past 36 months at the time of
           nomination.
         Must have at least 5 years of experience working as a SSW.
         Must be employed or eligible to be employed as a SSW of your state.
 
Member at Large:
.         Must live or work in the designated SSWAA Regional/Geographic Region.

·         Must be a SSWAA member in good standing for at least twelve (12) months

          prior to nomination

·         Must have demonstrated leadership in professional or volunteer activities

·         Must have at least (2) years’ experience as a school social worker
·         Must have been employed or be eligible to be employed as a school
          social worker in the state of residence (including retirees, administrators,
          faculty and state consultants).
 
Representative for Professional Standards and Practice:
·         Must be a SSWAA member for at least 12 months at the time of nomination

.         Must have knowledge of local, state and national school social work standards

·         Must have knowledge of professional practice issues
 
Representative for University Relations:
·         Must be a SSWAA member for at least 12 months prior to nomination
·         Must be a faculty member at a college or university within a Department
          of Social Work
·         Must have published, presented workshops and taught courses in School
          Social Work
 
Additional Board Expectations:
     Willingness to work/respond via email as necessary
     Commitment to be an active participant in at least one SSWAA board
       committee
     Attendance at up to four SSWAA board meetings per year
      Tentative Board Schedule is as follows:
      Winter (January) –Friday afternoon through Sunday morning
      Spring (March/April) – National Conference attendance and meeting
      (4-5 day/nights stay)
      Summer (July) – Washington DC Leadership/Legislative Institute and meeting
      (4 days/nights)
      Fall (October) – Friday afternoon through Sunday morning
 
Board Positions available for Nomination in fall 2010 - Office Begins January 2011

-         MIDWEST MEMBER AT LARGE (KS, IA, IL, MI, MN, OH, KY, MO, IN, NB, WI)
-         NORTHEAST MEMBER AT LARGE (ME, NH, VT, NY, MA, RI, CT, PA, MD, NJ)
-         REPRESENTATIVE FOR PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS AND PRACTICES
-         REPRESENTATIVE FOR UNIVERSITY RELATIONS
